Kalin Lucas contributed 15 points and six assists, while Travis Walton chipped in 14 points for Michigan State (9-2), which was coming off an impressive victory against Texas and won its fifth straight game.

Keith Benson posted a game-high 20 points and Erik Kangas added 15 points for Oakland (8-7), which had won seven of nine coming into the game.

The Grizzlies were in the game in the first half thanks to five makes from behind the three-point arc. The underdogs even took a 28-26 lead on Benson's dunk with just over four minutes left before the break, but MSU scored 18 of the half's final 20 points for a comfortable cushion.

Three-balls from Lucas, Suton, Walton and Durrell Summers, who also added an alley-oop from Lucas during the spurt, helped the Spartans to a 44-30 lead with 20 minutes to play.

The differential remained in the teens until Korie Lucious' trifecta gave MSU its first 20-plus-point lead at 63-41 with 12 minutes remaining, and the outcome was never seriously challenged the rest of the way.
